Replace & Repair All Your Teeth

Rebuild your smile, restore comfort and lasting function.

Rebuild your smile, restore comfort and lasting function.

If you are missing all of your teeth, so we're going to bring you in, take a comprehensive x-ray, look at everything from a 3D standpoint, and tailor your needs according to what you're wanting. And that could be anything from just, it could be from a partial denture where you're missing a few teeth, it could be a full denture, and if we can do that implant supported, the difference between a traditional denture and an implant supported denture can be life-changing. We can also make a full arch out of porcelain, so we can have, we can bring back all your teeth, screw retained into the implants, and it's pretty much like having a full arch of teeth back in there.

It's pretty cool. If you've got a lot of failing dental restorations, or you're concerned about your teeth, if you come in and we can take an x-ray and look at everything, lots of times we can treatment plan this on the computer, and we can tailor the implants accordingly, and everybody's a little bit different, but we can still give you a full arch of teeth just from a handful of implants that we can place in there. You don't have to place an implant for every tooth.

If you are missing a lot of teeth, and you have implants placed in there, it's like getting your teeth back. It can be a life-changing event. People's lives have changed, especially when they have a traditional denture versus an implant retained denture.

That is life-changing, the fact that they don't have, you don't have to worry about putting gooey stuff in your mouth. It stays in there. You can chew things, you can eat, you can function, you can speak, all those things more, a lot more naturally when you have dental implants supporting everything.

So having dental implants can change your life. So if you're missing a lot of teeth, it's difficult for you to eat, it's difficult for you to speak, it's difficult for you to smile, and that affects your digestive system, that affects how you talk to people. Getting dental implants and being able to restore your smile, and being able to eat and chew, not only is healthier for you, but it also affects your self-esteem, how you talk to other people, it affects your smile, it affects your overall health, you're healthier, and you're able to eat and function and not have to worry about your teeth.

That is a life-changing event. A lot of people question about the cost of dental implants, and I would say the cost of dental implants is so minimal compared to the positives that you get out of it. It can be a life-changing event to where you're smiling, you're interacting with people, it's a way to get your life back, and I think that's worth every bit of it.

Work with a Team That Understands Complex Care

We customize your reconstruction plan to your needs. Here are a few services that may be included:

  • Implant Crowns - An implant crown combination can replace a single missing tooth. It gives you a lifelike tooth replacement you can take care of like normal.
  • Implant Bridges - Replace multiple missing teeth in a row with an implant-supported bridge. This will improve your bite's stability and function.
  • Implant Dentures - If you are missing all or most of your teeth, you will benefit from implant dentures. Unlike standard dentures that need adhesive to stay in place, implant dentures give you more stability. You'll avoid slipping and discomfort.
  • Extractions - Your dentist will gently remove damaged or problematic teeth prior to your restorative procedures, if necessary.
  • Mini Dental Implants - These smaller implants often work well if you are not a good candidate for full-sized implants.
  • Restorative Procedures - Your dentist will save your natural teeth whenever possible. He can repair damaged, decayed, or infected teeth with fillings and root canals.

If needed, Dr. Shumate can add bone strength to your jaw with a ridge augmentation prior to placing implants. If implants aren't the right teeth replacement for you, you can choose conventional crowns, bridges, or dentures to rebuild your smile.

1st day here was great! Staff were all super nice. Really liked chatting with the dentists as well as the dental assistants. Did a really good job of cleaning and photographing my teeth. They were all super friendly! And then there is the fact that Dr Shumate was the only dentist around here that was able to repair a difficult / complex issue with my wifes teeth (dealing with severe allergies to Novocaine) - so yeah, needless to say, have been hopeful and highly impressed. Highly recommended!!

My husband and I wanted a Dentist closer to home. Wilmington traffic is unbearable! Dr. Shumate's office is only 15 min. away from home. We really lucked up. Dr. Shumate provides cosmetic dentistry, places dental implants, and offers family Dentistry. I visited Dr. Shumate, thinking I would start there, but I also had to see an oral surgeon. Nope, Dr. Shumate placed my dental implants, and I love Dr. Dana. He is a perfectionist, kind, and a gentleman. Of course, my better half sees Dr. Lauren and is so happy with her work. He also enjoys going into their office. We both do, the staff is professional and well-trained. While the receptionists are respectful and professional. I couldn't ask for more! I went in for my 6 month cleaning yesterday. The hygienist, Lindsey, was running behind, but worked very efficiently to perform my cleaning. She was thorough, and did a great job. The office personnel is always friendly and welcoming. Dr. Shumate is kind and understanding. I’ve been going to their office for nearly 10 years. Commonly Asked Questions About Full-Mouth Reconstruction

What is the difference between a smile makeover and full-mouth reconstruction?
Full-mouth reconstruction addresses extensive functional problems, damaged teeth, and oral health issues requiring comprehensive treatment. Smile makeovers focus primarily on cosmetic improvements for patients with relatively healthy teeth. Reconstruction often involves more complex procedures and longer treatment times, but it addresses both health and esthetic concerns for ooutstanding long-term results.
How long does a full-mouth reconstruction take?

Full-mouth reconstruction times vary because each case uses unique procedures. Certain treatments, such as extracting teeth and installing implants, need healing time. Your dentist will guide you in picking services that fit your smile needs, timeline, and budget.

Is full-mouth reconstruction painful?
Your full-mouth reconstruction might include a variety of treatments, including surgical steps like removing teeth, bone grafting, and implant placement. We make sure you stay comfortable during every part of your care by using local anesthesia to numb the area. If you feel anxious, you can also opt for dental sedation to help you relax.
